Kimberley Dynamiters score 5 in the 3rd to complete the comeback over Columbia Valley Rockies

After embarrassing the Rockies in their own barn, you knew the Rockies would bring their top game to avenge the loss. For two periods the Rockies controlled the game, but then the Dynamiters came back the vengeance and scored five in the third for a 7-3 win over the Columbia Valley Rockies

Game Notes
  • 16 players dressed for the game
  • Liam McBain got the start in net
  • Injuries/Scratches: Campanella, Marchi, Roy, Gordon, Lane, Hunt, Pagura
  • I sure am feeling for the Van Steinburg brothers. Trevor, naturally a forward has been playing D all season. Tyler naturally a defenceman, played F in his first game. Then Tyler played D in Invermere, and Trevor played F for this game. It's got to be confusing, but they are showing their versatility.

The Rockies opened the scoring by a goal from the speedy Davies (which I must admit he was impressive to watch, he was one of the few who could chase down the fast skating Nitro's). The Dynamiters responded quickly on the PP with a goal from Haase. Minutes later, now short handed, Saretsky scored his second SHG in two games. Davies responded again for the Rockies and leveled the score. The Dynamiters outshot the Rockies 10-8.

This period was highlighted by penalties. Richter was viciously cross-checked, which then Kinnon came to the aid and took a penalty. The Rockies player was ejected from the game. Kinnon later went into the box for roughing up a Rockies player who got a little rough as well. There was also a moment when a Rockies player looked like he was trying to make a baby with Buckley (no penalties were called on this play). The Rockies did take the lead with a goal from Barker (and an assist to Davies, I usually don't enjoy the play of an opponent, but again, he was impressive). After this goal, McBain looked at his glove as this puck fluttered off of his glove and over him into the net. For me that move signaled his frustration which led to him being replaced by Brouwer (his 29th appearance, 2nd most by a goalie in the league). The Rockies led 13-5 in shots.

It was noticeable that there was an injured official this period, as they were favouring their hand and had a bandage on (but atleast no one puked). Saretsky tied the game with his third SHG in two games. Richter scored later on a beauty tip pass from Saretsky (it also seemed Saretsky let the ref know who was in on the passing play). Mallard scored the calmest goal of the game, he gloved the puck down at centre ice, skated to the Rockies blue line and hurled the puck at the net, and found the corner pocket; it was truly graceful. The Dynamiters were up 5-3, and the Rockies pulled their goalie with just over a minute left. Buckley broke in and deposited the puck in the EN. Then in a strange turn of events, Van Steinburg lobbed the puck at the net (with a goalie in it) and scored with 2 seconds left, giving the Dynamiters a 7-3 win. The Dynamiters outshot the Rockies 19-7.

Nitro's Player of the Game
Braden Saretsky. 2 SHG, including the tying goal. Added an A on the GWG.

Honorable Mentions
Jason Richter - Scored the GWG.
Tyler Kinnon - Protecting his teammates
Eric Buckley - 1G 2A
