The Kimberley Dynamiters win 7th in a row with 3-1 win over Fernie Ghostriders

The Dynamiters faced off against division rivals Fernie Ghostriders (best rivalry in KI, I'd say). The Riders have looked rather ordinary, compared to how they have been the whole season, the past couple of weeks. Which is OK, they have clinched the division lead, and may soon clinch the conference lead. The game was well attended with 684 there to take in the action.

Game Notes
  • The Ghostriders are without their leading scorer, Doan Smith, who was leading the league in scoring when he got injured.
  • Brody Nelson got the start in net
  • Injuries/Scratches: Wallace, Campanella, Revie, Pagura
  • Unfortunately, I was not in attendance so I missed out on the intensity, the following is pieced together from status updates/tweets.
1st
The opening frame was fast and furious. The Dynamiters opened the scoring with a PP marker from Buckley, on the only penalty of the period. The Nitro's took a 1-0 lead into the intermission, but the shots were tied 7-all.

2nd
Learned that the colour commentator for the Nitro's broadcast is now on twitter, give him a follow. The Ghostriders fired everything they had at Nelson, taking 10 shots to the Nitro's four. However the period was a draw, and the Dynamiters held onto their 1-0 lead. This period had the social media people holding their breath, can you say intense? (INTENSE!)

3rd
The improving by the game, Mallard, gave the Nitro's a 2-0 lead. The Nitro's kept the lead until there was 1:30 to go in the period, the Riders pulled their goalie and Peers cut into the Dynamiters lead with 1:16 left. 30 seconds later, Haase potted an empty netter, restoring the two goal lead. The Nitro's finished the game with a 3-1 lead, and had a slight edge in shots this period, 12-11.

Post-Game
After the game fans got an opportunity to meet and greet with the players and get their autograph books signed. And if you missed out on it like me, there is a chance to get your books signed after Sunday's game.
Nitro's Player of the Game
Eric Buckley - 1G 2A, in on all three goals

Honorable Mentions
Brody Nelson - 27 save performance, KIJHL star of the game.
