The Kimberley Dynamiters go undefeated in October after 5-1 win over Columbia Valley Rockies

The Kimberley Dynamiters finished the month of October undefeated, going 10-0, after treating themselves to a 5-1 in Invermere.

Game Notes
  • Richter was not in the lineup. Reminder that Wallace and Pagura are out indefinitely.
  • Columbia Valley entered the game on a four-game winning streak, Kimberley on an 11-game winning streak.
  • 150 in attendance
1st
It seemed like the Rockies were on a sugar crash as Kimberley controlled the play. Haase opened the scoring as the Rockies popped a loose puck out straight to Haase, and he snapped it in. Later, as Kimberley swarmed the net, and Hunt put in a loose puck, giving the Nitro's a 2-0 lead. Shortly after the goal, the ref was about to call a penalty against the Rockies when Doell and the Rockies Cardinal dropped the gloves and then were ejected from the game. Kimberley dominated in shots 13-3, but on a couple of those three shots, Brouwer made outstanding saves.

2nd
The Rockies got over their sugar rush, and the period was tightly contested. Kimberley got in penalty trouble, and the Rockies had a 5-on-3 chance. Marchi had a beauty chance SH, beat the goalie, but rang the puck off the post. The Nitro's maintained pressure on the PK and killed of the penalties. But in the later half of the period, the Rockies broke the goose egg. Moments later, Farmer broke in, was hooked heavily and guided into the goalie, and Farmer was given the penalty for goalie interference. Could Farmer have tried more to get off the train tracks into the goalie? Sure. Was there an infraction that happened prior that led to his penalty? Absolutely! - But nonetheless, Kimberley was on the PK and effectively killed it. Then in the dying seconds Buckley gave the Nitro's a 3-1 lead, the perfect response to the attention he was getting on the ice. Kimberley led in shots 8-7.

3rd
Columbia Valley kept pace in shots with Kimberley, but they could not squeak another puck past Brouwer. Marchi gave the Dynamiters a 4-1 lead. Then in a weird series of events, when the goalie did not feel protected, Brouwer took things into his own hands, but then Columbia Valley was drawn into a penalty as well, so both teams skated four aside. Farmer then added the fifth goal with 90 seconds left, sealing the Rockies fate.

Kimberley currently sits five points ahead of the next team in the league, and 11 over Creston Valley who sits second in the division.
