Kimberley Dynamiters overcome bad roads and a resilient opponent to win 6-4

Playing in Golden has seemed to be a struggle for the Dynamiters. While they have gone 3-0 in Golden thus far, the games have been closer than when they play in the Civic Centre. Kimberley usually outlasts Golden by playing a full 60 minutes of hockey. And this game was no exception.

Game Notes
  • The recently acquired Tanner Wit suited up in his first game against his former team
  • Tyson Brouwer started against Owen Sikkes
  • One of the top special teams in the league, went up against the worst in the league
  • Haase was wearing #88 this game because he forgot his jersey. Good thing a spare was brought!
  • Reports I heard, said the roads were terrible on the way to Golden. Glad everyone made it there safe.
1st
For some reason, I thought the game started 30 minutes later than it did. So when I tuned in, Kimberley was up 2-0. Goals were by Langelaar and Rota, they scored 18 seconds apart. Just then, Golden scored, and it was 2-1. And the Rockets started buzzing. Kimberley was able to secure the net and stop any other goals from going in this period. Shots were 13-9 for the Rockets.

2nd
Within the first three minutes of the period, Rota dropped the gloves. He was given 2, 5 and a game, same with the Rockets player. After five minutes of high pressure hockey, the Dynamiters drew a penalty and went on the PP. Not even 20 seconds into the PP, Marchi took a feed from Meier and gave the Nitro's a 3-1 lead. Well, the lead did not last long, as the Rockets scored 15 seconds later to make it a one-goal game again. Doell then drew a penalty. And 8 seconds into this PP, Chabot got his stick on a loose puck in front of the net, and gave Kimberley a 4-2 lead. As the period wound down Kimberley was called for two penalties in a row, and killed a 5-on-3. The Rockets scored a deflating goal in the last minute to make it 4-3. Shots this period were 15-13 for Kimberley.

3rd
Buckley got the Nitro's PP goal of the period, as Wit got the helper. Kimberley was up 5-3. Both teams swapped penalties, and it looked like Kimberley had secured the lead. But with just under three minutes remaining, the Rockets got within one goal again! Kimberley this time had a quick response as Marchi scored his second goal of the game, just 34 seconds after the Rockets scored. It was now 6-4. The Rockets took a penalty in the dying minutes, and Kimberley skated out the period. Shots this period were 12-9 for Kimberley

What was comical this period, was when the webcast crew was typing in the goals, they appeared to be playing with the Nitro Fans emotions. When the Rockets scored you could read "awww" and then when the Dynamiters scored you could read "boo"

Dynamite Player of the Game
Jared Marchi - 2G

Honorable Mention
Tanner Wit - 1A, awfully difficult to not go into your old bench. Enjoyed watching him shake his former teammates hands after the game.
Kenaan Haase - 2A, wearing a different number didn't effect his play
Trey Doell - 2A
Eric Buckley - 1G 1A
Devon Langelaar - 1G, his first since October.
