Dynamiters control the Steam and win 3-0

The Dynamiters took on the top defensive team in the KIJHL, and I just named Summerland Steam's goalie, Brett Huber, as an All-Star for September, because he was the KIJHL's top goalie. But they met the challenge, won 3-0 and remain undefeated.

1st
In what could only be the defining moment of the game, Fisher from the Steam caught Brouwer out of position, tried to bury a rebound and missed an open net.The Steam played an up tempo game, a pace the Dynamiter's like to play, however the Steam appeared to follow through on hits when chasing down the puck. This didn't stop the Dynamiters from being creative, with soccer-like play from Klingspohn. Garcia added physical presence for the Nitro's. The period ended with Buckley getting a game misconduct (someone was team Huber...), the score 0-0, and the Steam outshooting the Nitro's 7-6.

2nd
Dagostin went to deliver a heavy hit, but was on the receiving end of a kneeing hit and went down. This started the parade to the box for Summerland. A prime example of their play, Egilson, speedy guy, would chase Nitro's around, hacking, slashing, tripping and following through on checks. He never got a penalty (I'm surprised by that). Roy ended up scoring on the PP, but my son had to go potty so I missed it. The Nitro's were outshot in this period 11-7. Brouwer was looking unbeatable, but no one dared to mention the 'S' word.

Huber's game seemed to be rattled, a puck that bounced off the boards almost deflected off of him and in, he began responding to fan heckling, and just overall seemed uncomfortable. The Steam were desperate, and Prevost drew Hurry in for a 10-minute misconduct (it drives me crazy to see this, a penalty but no Power Play!). However, the Nitro's got another PP chance. Richter was floating around in the slot, but puck came to him, he got tangled up, got loose, and snapped it in. It was at this moment that the fans became nervous, you could taste the win, but the Steam pulled their goalie in another desperate move to get back in the game. I can't tell you the number of times the Steam coach raised his head and hands to the sky in disbelief as the Nitro's D and Brouwer kept the puck out. There were several attempts at the empty net (it was open since the 5 minute mark), eventually Campanella buried the puck in the net, and sealed the game.

Nitro's Player of the Game
Ironically also the guy who was just awarded player of the month recognition, Tyson Brouwer. A 31 save performance, he truly out dueled Huber.

Honorable Mentions
Tyler Kinnon - he was unreal in sacrificing himself during a 5 minute penalty kill.
Coy Prevost - 2A
Jordan Roy - GWG
Jason Richter - His PPG lifted the team
