Richter really helped boost the team en route to their 4-1 win. But before we get to his plays, let’s get to other highlights of the game.
Buckley seems to be on the wrong end of penalties. Buckley had tripping called against him, and it was a lame call. But then he is on a break later in the game, and is tripped up, before the defender hits the puck, and there is no call…. Hancherow even took a high-stick to the face, right in front of the ref, and no call….
Columbia Valley (sometimes I just refer to them as Invermere) came into the game with the worst power play, and it was evident. They iced the puck a couple of times while on the power play!
The save of the game came when Mousseau was called for a penalty, the team was short handed and Smith from the Columbia Valley had what he thought was an open net until Mousseau snagged it.
But now to the Nitro’s Player of the Game: Richter. Richter had a great game as he 3 goals, two of them with seconds remaining in the first and third period. His third goal was an odd one. Columbia Valley pulled their goalie, and the puck got into their end. Richter was doing some awesome defending and pretty much ‘Kesler-ed’ the puck into the net, and the only person that didn’t see it go in was the ref, the goal judge even put the light on, play resumed for about 10 more seconds, when play stopped, Richter was awarded the goal.
