Kimberley Dynamiters double Kamloops Storm 4-2

I cheesily tweeted before the game "what happens when dynamite mixes with a storm? we are about to find out!" Because when your excited for a game, the brain just can't process rationally. Needless to say, it was great to have the 2015 KIJHL final rematch in our rink.

Game Notes
  • The Storm are loaded with rookies, 17 to be exact. They are a young team, but very enthusiastic and dynamic.
  • The Storm also had recently acquired Andrusiak in the lineup. He averaged a point per game last year with North Okanagan Knights
  • There were nearly 600 fans in attendance
  • Brouwer started the game against Grant
1st
It was a finesse period. Kamloops outshot Kimberley 12-5. However, the Nitro's took the lead 1-0 as Doell broke in took a shot and Richter cleaned up the rebound. Seconds later as the Storm crashed on Brouwer, Buhler took exception and was given two minutes, plus 10, and then he was given a game after chatting. You know, Buhler got the "game" off... like the movie? (I'm sure Buhler has never heard that before). It was puzzling that he was the only one penalized. Kimberley held onto their lead heading into the intermission.

2nd
The Storm pushed their way back into the game as they scored 2.5 minutes into the game. The Storm kept pressing, but Brouwer, and the D made some excellent stops keeping the game knotted at one. At the midway point, Buckley was hauled down after sniffing for a rebound. A hashtag has developed just for him #BecauseItsBuckley because if anyone else was hauled down, a penalty would have been called. Later, in an awkward moment the Nitro's were caught with too many men on the ice. The Nitro's PK was aggressive and killed the penalty. Then as the period wound down Richter found Marchi who busted in and put it stick side. The Dynamiters were up 2-1 with nine seconds left. Kamloops led the period in shots 9-5.

It was a dangerous period for the goal judge in this period, several pucks went out of play and nearly ricocheted on him. I recommend a metal umbrella next game. (Or I'll bring you a helmet)

3rd
The Nitro's were penalized early in the period. But once again the killed it off effectively. Shortly after the midway point the Storm knuckled a puck that weirdly bounced past Brouwer. It was a 2-2 game. Thirty seconds later, Marchi redirected Busch's shot, and the Dynamiters were back up by one, 3-2. In the final five minutes Campanella drove towards the net and was prevented from taking a feed as he was hauled down, drawing a penalty. The Storm, though, were up to the task and didn't let the Nitro's get set up. As time wound down, Kamloops pulled the goalie. Tyler van Steinburg put the last nail in the game as he buried an ENG, his first goal of the year. Kimberley outshot Kamloops 7-6.

Dynamite Player of the Game
Jared Marchi - 2G Proved why he was selected as the October POM for Kimberley.

Honorable Mentions
Marco Campanella - Played with a lot of tenacity, getting under the skin of the opponent, and drawing penalties.
Jason Richter - 1G 2A
