The Grizzzlies and Dynamiters met up for the second time in a week. The Dynamiters spoiled the Grizzlies home opener, winning 4-3; and the Grizzlies looked poised to steal one on the road.

Game Notes
  • 501 in attendance
  • Jason Richter is three goals away from taking the Nitro's all-time goal scoring lead.
  • Traichevich got the start in net
  • Nitro's in pink jerseys to support breast cancer. The jerseys are being auctioned off.
1st
The Grizzlies were skating at a frantic pace, but the Dynamiters were doing an excellent job of using their sticks defensively to slow the Grizzlies down. However, the Nitro's struggled with offensive turnovers which caused several breath holding moments.

During the intermission, a fan shot to win a car. As you see in the video he slipped right at the end. I chatted with him during the next period. While he blamed his shoes and said it was slippery the entire time, he said it was especially slippery where they scrapped off the snow in the middle.
2nd
The Grizzlies opened the scoring two minutes into the game. They held onto their lead until the Nitro's went on the power play. They showed great possession abilities on the PP, and waited for the right moment. Which was finding Richter in the slot, who knuckled it in. The game was tied 1-1. Then a minute later the Grizzlies stormed back and scored, well, until the goal was waved off. But that didn't hold back the Grizzlies they took an offensive turnover and potted it. 2-1 Grizzlies. Then in the last minute of the period, the Nitro's scored an identical goal, the only difference is that Richter wired it in. Game was tied heading into the intermission.

3rd
The Dynamiters got themselves in penalty trouble, and the Grizzlies had a 5-on-3; they eventually scored after one skater returned. Then the game took an ugly turn. It was brewing as both teams were getting frustrated with none calls. After the faceoff following the Grizzlies goal, Bertoia delivered a heavy hit, and then everyone started fighting...

Six game misconducts were handed out, plus 28 PIM. My daughter said they all needed a timeout after that. The tension hovered for several minutes, where you could feel the ugliness. In the last four minutes, play returned to the frantic finesse pace. Then with just under three minutes left the Dynamiters went on the PP. And as they have done twice so far, they scored on the PP as Chabot knotted it up with one minute left, and one second left in the PP. The Grizzlies then got themselves in an awkward spot as they were penalized with 16 seconds left as the game was headed to OT.

OT
The period started 4-on-3. Busch fed the puck to Haase, who was perched at he bottom of the circle, and one-timed it in. DYNAMITERS WIN! (But that was close!)

The Dynamiters showed that they could skate in a close game again without panicking. They went 4/5 on the PP. After all was said and done there was 66 PIM and 6 Game Misconducts.

Dynamite Player of the Game
Jason Richter - 2G. Tied for all-time Nitro goals. KIJHL star of the game.

Honorable Mentions
Jordan Busch - 3A while getting fancy with his puck control.
Jared Marchi - 2A and proved versatile as he played as a defender
