Turns out my rant earlier this week about banning head-shots may have had some merit to it. The CBC published an article about concussions in young athletes needing to be taken more seriously. Some groups are trying to take it seriously, hence why before the NHL season began there was an event surrounding brain injuries. And let's not forget some of the long-term, life-long effects that can result from a concussion, such as depression.
I hope the league starts reading the evidence, and doing something about it. It's unfortunate that the league hasn't and won't take any action against the head shot that Kimberley Dynamiters Marchi received. It will probably take the league's leading scoring, Nick Josephs, to receive a head-shot and be out with a concussion before anything happens.
